It was the fall of 1986 when Pastor Chet Jordan along with a small group of about 56 members launched out on a spiritual adventure to a new location. There were two reasons behind the move. First, the facilities at the mother church, North Miami Seventh Day Adventist church became too small for the increasing number of members. Secondly, , the Northeast area of Dade County did not have an Adventist church even though there were a number of members living in the area.
In less than two years, the group grew from 56 to 83 members. On May 7th 1988 the first Seventh Day Adventist church was established in the city of North Miami Beach on the premises of the Methodist Church on NE 186 St. and NE 24th Ave.
The Church has always been a multi-national, multi cultural church. The number of nationalities represented by members has varied over the years. In the year 2000, there were 16 different nationalities, while in 2005 there were 21; Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Columbia, Czech Republic, Grenada, Guyana , Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Poland, Puerto Rico, Romania, St. Lucia, Trinidad, and United States of America.
The founding members regarded themselves as a movement; therefore their lives were characterized by fervent spirituality, enthusiastic fellowship and intentional outreach activities. They did not care too much about the condition of the place of worship, but about a proper spirit a prosperous mission and about having a place at a strategic location.
The Church that was rented was an old fashioned Methodist Church, not appealing at all, with poor conditions for worship services and other activities. This was considered as one of the reasons why, over the years, members were moving to other churches that offered better worship conditions. One example of this was in 1988 when the young mission driven church brought in 13 through baptism but in that same year, 7 members transferred to other churches. That unpleasant reality encouraged the pioneers to add a new goal to their agenda; a church building of their own in the same area and for the same original purpose, to reach out to others with the message of salvation and to offer proper conditions for worship and church activities.
In February 2000, the church purchased a vacant property consisting of five parcels. The intention was to build a church but it was later decided to stick to the original plan and remain in the North East Area for the purpose of evangelizing the neighborhood.
The first official Pastor of the North Miami Beach Church was Pastor Chet Jordan who was followed by Pastors Grigore Leordean, Norman C Harding, Iosif Salajan, Ruben Joseph and at present Mihai Bijacu.
